Sadness paid a visit at, No 46 Gafari Balogun Street, as two children were killed in the collapse of a building as a result of the heavy downpour today, June 17, 2020.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), recovered the bodies of the children from the debris of the collapse. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director-General of the agency, said they received a distress call about a collapsed building at the said location
He said in a statement
“On arrival at the scene by agency responders, it was observed that a building collapsed as a result of a mudslide at the rear of the building caused by heavy rainfall. The agents were informed that two children, one male and one female were trapped and immediately commenced a search and rescue operation, unfortunately, they were found dead and their remains are being transferred to the mortuary”
According to Mr. Oke-Osanyintolu, the building had been cordoned off and awaits integrity test.
